Furthermore, the news is even better for STX Entertainment, as they didn’t spend nearly that much on the domestic rights, so they will be in the black very soon.More... Having the story told from the dog's perspective helps too, as does some delightfully funny scenes. There's a wonderful warmth and engagement to proceedings. Look at it for what it is, a feel good movie with a great happy ending. I knew what it was going into it and it did not disappoint. I never saw any of the things these other reviews point out. I went home and hugged my two American Staffordshire Terriers very tight. However, Bella misses Lucas and leaves Farmington and begins a 400-mile journey home, which will take more than two years to complete.
The 'agenda' items like the married gay couple about mid-way through, and the war veterans suffering from depression utilizing dogs for therapy, went over the heads of the kids. There are some areas where they replaced animals with CGI and some of it looks really good, but really fake, but 1- my kids didn't notice all that much, and 2- it's a movie... Let's just turn off our minds for about 2 hours and just watch a wholesome family movie. Everything was wonderful in the movie but having read the book I noticed many things changed or missing from the movie that was in the book.
